Step 9: Shipping

This series of articles, titled “How to make a beverage coaster,” sees us answer the following question: How are beverage coasters actually made? Once the beverage coasters are packed, they’re stacked on pallets and prepared for shipping.

Shipping is the last step in the production chain, but also the starting point for the trip that these beverage coasters will be taking to breweries all throughout Europe. It’s where we make sure that finished orders will be delivered on time.

What makes the Shipping Department so important?

  • Quality assurance: Before a pallet leaves Production, our team checks once more to make sure that everything is complete and in good condition. Then, to make sure that everything arrives in good shape, we use ratchet straps, edge protectors, and, if necessary, additional methods and materials such as dunnage bags.
  • Flexibility: Whether dealing with standard scheduled runs or extra runs on short notice – Shipping always responds quickly and reliably. In two shifts, the department makes sure that a smooth outbound flow of goods is always maintained.
  • Customer focus: Punctual shipping is a vital part of our service promise. Our team ensures that delivery dates are adhered to and that special requests are honored. For customers in 40 countries to boot! Not to mention, of course, that delivery terms are nearly as varied as the designs on the beverage coasters we ship.

Structured processes – supported by experience

With clearly defined processes and skillful work, the team makes sure that all steps – from packaging to pick-up – flow into each other smoothly. And it’s no small matter. After all, an average of more than six million beverage coasters – amounting to around 80 pallets – leave Production in Willstätt every day.
