Step 8: Packaging
This series of articles, titled “How to make a beverage coaster,” sees us answer the following question: How are beverage coasters actually made? Once a sheet has been cut into individual coasters, the coasters are packaged.
Fast, smart, and efficient
Our new site in Willstätt started operations in the summer of 2024. Production there is particularly characterized by the fact that everything we put together was novel, innovative, and cutting-edge. Not only that, but it was custom designed for the production of beverage coasters. To put it simply, we created a production line that has enabled us to maximize the efficiency of our typical workday, with the in-line packaging line and fully automatic logistics worth highlighting.
Once our beverage coasters are cut out with the exact shape we want, the next step in their journey is packaging – and this step is taken right away. More specifically, our state-of-the-art inline packaging technology takes these beverage coasters and conveys them directly to the packaging area on a conveyor belt. Once there, the coasters are first packed in stacks of one hundred and then combined into units with 1,000 coasters each.
Sustainability is important everywhere, and we’re certainly no exception. Even if our product is made out of natural materials 100%, we still need to incorporate sustainability into our processing operations. In addition, the plastic film we use to pack our beverage coasters is as thin as possible.
Finally, the 1,000-unit packages are stacked on pallets in an orderly manner, ready for shipping. This fully automated process maximizes efficiency while guaranteeing consistently high quality and optimized logistics – a perfect example of how innovation makes the difference at KATZ.
