KATZ Food Board: The natural material for food packaging
From there, the uses for KATZ wood pulp board have exploded, so that it is now used in an extremely wide range of industrial sectors. The raw material is used in KATZ Food Board as well, and in the food and packaging industries accordingly.
KATZ Food Board is a particularly high-volume material that is based on wood pulp. The product is tremendously versatile, and can be used, for example, as pads for dry and greasy food, meaning all the way from pastries, fruit, and vegetables to fish, meat, sausages, and cheese.
A variety of product versions for individualized uses
The product base developed by KATZ for the range of KATZ Food Boards is one-of-a-kind, 100% recyclable, and suitable for direct contact with food. The aim is to replace existing plastic solutions by using KATZ Food Boards in packaging wherever possible. As of this writing, two categories are being developed to production-readiness: One is KATZ Food Board pure, a natural and unprocessed product that is especially well-suited for use as a packaging material in direct contact with dry and greasy food. The other consists of KATZ Food Boards with laminated film or foil. In fact, specific barrier properties can be achieved by using gold foil, silver foil, or transparent film for lamination. This means that this version can be used to pack moist and greasy food, such as salmon, meat, and pastries.
A valuable secondary raw material at the end of the product lifecycle
The layer construction that makes up KATZ Food Board products makes it possible to remove the laminated film or foil from the board surface with little effort. This makes it possible to sort its components and recycle them accordingly so that the board can be recycled 100% as used paper with its high-value virgin fibers.
